Background
A while back I was handing over a project I was working on to a colleague of mine. I had just added him to the Apple Developer account for him to be able to handle the certificates and provisioning profiles. But when I was about to add him to the iTunes Connect account it immediately gave us an error message. Some of you may have experienced this. You can only be a member of one iTunes Connect account at a time. We work as consultants and sometimes need access to pultiple iTunes Connect accounts.
The power of e-mail
Usually what you do when you get in this situation is to use an alternative e-mail address. Either you already have multiple e-mail addresses or you create a new one for this purpose.
What we figured out though is that you don’t have to do that. You can go about with your usual e-mail by just utilizing a pretty cool part of the e-mail specification. So let’s say your e-mail address is john.doe@company.com, all you need to do is to add a + sign and some text before the @-sign. Like this: john.doe+project@company.com. Now what happens is that iTunes Connect will identify this as a unique address and will let you register an account with it. Your e-mail provider will still figure out where the e-mails sent to that address are supposed to go.
There’s not much more to it than that. Enjoy not having to create new e-mail accounts or aliases every time you join a new iOS project and need access to iTunes Connect!
No longer work.
